Agaete Natural Pools

The natural pools of Agaete, commonly called Las Salinas, are made up of 3 volcanic rock pools connected to each other by walkways or natural underwater gates. Of all the natural pools in Gran Canaria, they are probably the best known and very crowded on weekends. The pools are protected from the sea waves, whose waters only enter the pools when the tide rises. There are stairs enabled to enter and exit, public toilets and a bar. It is an ideal place to go with the family, since children can bathe calmly without any risk. In summer there is also a lifeguard service.

Sunsets in Las Salinas are unforgettable. On clear days you can see Tenerife, Teide Volcano and the dragon's tail (Tamadaba Natural Park Mountains) while the colors of the sky and sunset reflect the days when it is not windy. These pools are called Las Salinas because in the past they were used as natural salt flats from which sea salt was collected.

These gorgeous natural pools can be reached by car following the Agaete ravine or walking, either through the ravine itself or along the Paseo de los Poetas from Puerto de las Nieves. On foot from the town square the tour takes no more than 15 minutes.
